Bold, intense color, and mirroring. Reflection. Literally. Metaphorically. Women and their eyes tell the real story. This collection explores the dynamics that exist between outward appearance and internal essence. The countenance, the good face that women often put on contrasts with deeper feelings, concerns, and fears. Recurring themes of eyes as window to the soul, beauty as fleeting, or self loathing, are explored in a variety of mediums. The use of paint, pencil, charcoal, and photography intentionally challenge the norm and break the barrier of what is expected. Many of these pieces portray perceived frailties, in reality, the embracement of self is empowering and shows strength of character.

A Lansing Pop Up Art Competition Winner! The highly competitive jury process resulted in the selection of 12 works of art and 4 demonstrations. Artwork was showcased as a large-scale reproduction in one of the newspaper kiosks in Downtown Lansing and featured in a special publication newspaper. The jurors also selected my demonstration. My demo was scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2017, from noon - 1 p.m. The demonstrations took place outside.
